IMPORTANT INFORMATION — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!
NOTE: YOU MUST PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO REMOVE PACKAGES FROM THE TRUCK. IF ASSISTANCE ISN’T AVAILABLE, A LIFTGATE MUST BE USED WHICH IS AT AN ADDITIONAL COST. DELIVERY TO A DOCK OR CURBSIDE ONLY.
NOTE: YOU MUST INSPECT THE PACKAGE FOR DAMAGE UPON DELIVERY. MAKE NOTE OF ANY DAMAGES OR SHORTAGE ON YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE THE DRIVER LEAVES. IF YOU FIND CONCEALED DAMAGE FOUND LATER, RECORD IT ON YOUR BILL. DAMAGES MUST BE REPORTED WITHIN 3 DAYS TO THE TRUCK COMPANY. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, CALL SAUNA AMERICA.
Freight Delivery: Common carrier will deliver the freight to you (Purchaser), at the business or home address provided. Charges are calculated from dock to dock or curbside for residential. There is a single driver typically pulling a 28’ trailer. The Purchaser will have to make arrangements to receive the shipment at another location that is previously agreed to by carrier and purchaser if the vehicle is unable to reach your business or residence because of weight restrictions, vegetation, narrow roads or any reason that is not the fault of the carrier. Purchaser may arrange to pick up the freight at a local terminal.
An adult must be on hand to sign the delivery receipt and record any damages described below. If purchaser requests any additional services on delivery, costs will be the responsibility of the purchaser not Sauna America. Services include, but are not limited to: (1) delivery inside, (2) optional liftgate delivery (skids break down into individual boxes that can be unloaded by hand), (3) appointments, 24-hour notice or pre-delivery calls, and (4) delivery address change.
Prior to the delivery, the purchaser is responsible for informing Sauna America of any problems that might occur. Sauna America can’t predict delivery problems without the aid of the purchaser. Zip codes are used to calculate freight charges.
Dispute Claim Prevention: Freight claims are either visible loss or damage OR concealed loss or damage.
VISIBLE LOSS OR DAMAGE: Includes external evidence of loss or damage that occurred during transit and purchaser is required to note damage on the bill of lading. This must be signed by the carrier’s driver. If the Purchaser fails to describe the visible loss or damage it could result in the carrier refusing to accept the freight claim or cause a delay in processing the claim.
CONCEALED LOSS OR DAMAGE: Includes any damage not visible at the time of delivery. Due to rough handling in transit, the contents of the container can be damaged without the container being damage. It is important to contact Sauna America immediately for instructions on how to process the claim if this should occur. Save the container that the damaged merchandise was delivered in for the filing of a claim.
Do the following upon receiving your shipment:
(1) Count all pieces of the freight delivery. You can find a piece count on the bill even if delivered on a pallet. Make sure all pieces are counted and included on the bill.
(2) Check to see if there are any visible damages. It is critical to record any dents, crushed packages, scratches, punctures or cuts on the bill of lading. It may be necessary to open the box to check for damage. Mark any damage on the bill of lading. Be very specific when you record the damages.
Containers may not show obvious signs of external damage if they have been dropped. Very carefully inspect the heater and door boxes. To ensure that the contents of the boxes don’t have concealed damage, you may decide to open the boxes before the driver leaves. However, the driver doesn’t have to allow any boxes to be opened before purchaser signs and accepts the shipment.
To refuse a freight shipment: You may need to refuse part or all of your order if the contents are damaged and unusable. Before refusing any shipment, you must call Sauna America. If damages are found after delivery and unpacking, call Sauna America within 3 days of receiving the damaged contents. If the carrier is our usual in-house carrier, Sauna America will help you file a freight claim. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to file a claim if the carrier was chosen by the purchaser.
Note: The carrier will return the merchandise “Dead Head” if the shipment arrives with damages caused by the carrier at no cost to either Sauna America or the purchaser. Prior authorization from Sauna America requires prior authorization to return a damaged shipment (or any shipment) to them.
